Arriving soon in a mailbox near you!  Zephyr 76 contains our annual recap of the BRHS Fall Meet and Annual Business Meeting, with award presentations and contest winners.  Three short features include Pete Hedgpeth's "Recollections," Brian Holtz's "Romance on the DZ" and Bryan Howell's "Silver Club's New Home."  Also included is the obituary for member Bob Jensen by Hol Wagner, and the regular items: President's Corner, System News, Society News, Archive News, Classifieds, New Products, Last Call, Call Board, Where to Write and last but not least, the Errata Column.  If you are not a member, (although we highly recommend joining) this issue is available to purchase from the BRHS Company Store.

The BRHS Archive Committee has announced two special fund raising activities prior to the Spring Meet open to BRHS members and their friends.  The first is a second, all day, Bob Milner Birthday trip aboard Amtrak's last full dome to Quincy, Illinois and back on Thursday, April 5th.  The second activity will be a Day with Metra, Starting at Chicago's Union Station for three speakers and a box lunch, followed by tours of Metra's 47th Street Diesel and Coach facilities.  Registration is via mail-in only and both activities are limited as to the number of participants, so register early!  For the trip flyers, go to the Archives page by clicking here.

Burlington Bulletin 54 was mailed from JPA in Pontiac on November 30th and should be arriving in your mailbox soon!  This is another three topic Bulletin featuring Rupert Gamlen's "Disaster in the Suburbs" article covering three early 20th century wrecks at Western Springs. Next is Leo Phillipp's "Sterling Motor Car" article examining the change from steam passenger operations to a motor car on the Sterling-Shabbona-Serena (Illinois) run.  Bringing up the markers is a photo essay of four months in 1959 of the Q in Lincoln from the camera of Irv Fierstein.  The photos are from the BRHS Archive and were captioned by Archive Committee member Jim Sandrin.  The issue is 68 pages loaded with photos, maps, charts and other illustrations.

Our 75th Zephyr has been mailed from Pontiac and should be arriving in your mailbox soon!  Along with the Zephyr, we have an addendum for Burlington Bulletin 53 with additional information that was omitted from the oriiginal Bulletin due to space.  You will also be receiving a copy of our amended Bylaws that have been updated to reflect the elimination of the Family Membership and the addition of the Conductors Club membership.  The Fall Meet registration forms and Board of Directors ballot will be coming soon in a separate mailing.  We hope you enjoy!

There will be two "impromptu" work sessions at the Baraboo Archives, ahead of those already published (August 29, September 20 and October 19).  The first will be this Saturday, July 29.  The second will be Wednesday, August 2.  Work session hours are from 11 AM to 5 PM.  Please don't arrive before 11 AM.

Burlington Bulletin 53 was mailed from our new printer in Pontiac, Illinois, Thursday, May 11th.  It is a three topic issue consisting of the Alton Bridge, Belmont Tunnel and OS BN.

This is the first issue from our new printer and a change in how the Bulletins and Zephyrs will be mailed.
